Frequently Asked Questions
What is HitOrMiss?
HitOrMiss is a free music competition platform where producers and musicians can host and enter song competitions, beat battles, remix contests, and more. Submit your track, listen to others, and vote hit or miss.
How do song competitions work?
A host creates a competition with rules, genres, and a timeline. During the submission phase, participants upload their tracks. Once submissions close, voting opens and the community listens to each entry and votes hit or miss. When voting ends, results are revealed and the top tracks are crowned.
Can I host my own beat battle or music contest?
Absolutely. Creating a competition takes less than a minute. Set your title, description, rules, genres, and dates, and you’re live. You can also set up recurring competitions that auto-create on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly schedule.
What genres are supported?
Competitions can be tagged with any genre including Hip-Hop / Rap, Electronic / EDM, Pop, R&B / Soul, Rock, Jazz, Classical, Country, Latin, Reggae / Dancehall, Metal, Folk / Acoustic, and more. Hosts can also create open-genre competitions for any style of music.
Is HitOrMiss free to use?
Yes, HitOrMiss is completely free for both hosts and participants. Create competitions, submit tracks, and vote without any fees or subscriptions.
Who owns the rights to submitted songs?
You do. Your music is yours, always. HitOrMiss never claims any rights to your tracks and we never use your submissions for anything beyond the competition. Audio files are automatically deleted 14 days after a competition ends, so your work is never stored permanently. Your creative rights stay with you from the moment you upload to the moment we wipe the files.
